Celebrate International Nurses Day!

Tortrix would like to extend its best wishes to all nursing staff on International Nursing Day, 12th May 2010. Today is the 190th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale (and this year also marks the centenary of her death).

This year’s theme is “nurses leading in chronic care” marking the contribution which these specialists make to managing long term illnesses. According to Dr Peter Carter, RCN Chief Executive and General Secretary, chronic care nurses “save millions of pounds through reduced complications, fewer hospital readmissions and the expert management of complex conditions.”

The Royal College of Nursing is asking members to celebrate the day by sending a Happy Nurses’ Day e-card to their colleagues. The e-card can be found at:
